My name is Manu Ferreira - Manu is a short form for Emanuella. I was born in Recife, Brazil, but I came to the United States at the age of 26 in an exchange program to improve my English. After completing the program, I applied for a Master's Degree.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication with a major in Radio, TV, and the Internet from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in Brazil. And I just finished a master's program in Journalism at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
During college, I had several internships, which allowed me to work as a press agent, social media content creator, and producer at a local TV station in Recife. After graduating, I worked as a PR agent for two marketing companies and as a writer for a Brazilian website. I have also volunteered as a Marketing Committee Member for the non-profit Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN) and as a Media Coordinator for the non-profit S.Y.STEM Coalition, both based in Arizona.
After graduating with a master's degree, I worked as a Multimedia Producer at Illinois Public Media/WILL-TV for a few months. I'm currently working as a Website and Communications Specialist at The University of Chicago - Neuroscience Institute.
